TRIAGE™ Leadership

Clinical excellence
doesn't make
you a leader.

Most veterinary professionals are promoted without a single leadership framework. TRIAGE gives you the structure to lead clearly, not just survive the role.

  • You've been promoted but no one taught you how to hold a team accountable
  • Conflict gets avoided because you don't have a repeatable way to address it
  • You're carrying the burden of every operational failure alone

The Structural Problem

Veterinary training is deep.
Leadership training is nonexistent.

Clinical Training
4 years veterinary school
1–3 year internship / residency
Continuing education — required annually
Credentialing, board certification
Mentorship from senior clinicians
Evidence-based protocols for every case type
Leadership Training
No standard curriculum in vet school
No internship for management skills
No CE requirement for leadership
No credentialing for leading a team
Expected to figure it out while working
No protocol for conflict, accountability, or culture

TRIAGE™ closes the gap with six structured frameworks built specifically for veterinary leaders.

The Leadership Gap

The pattern is
predictable.
The damage isn't.

Veterinary leaders aren't failing because they lack dedication.
They're operating without frameworks for the situations that matter most — conflict, accountability, role confusion, and burnout.

This is not a personal failure. It's a structural gap that most veterinary education never closes.

01
Difficult conversations get delayed
No framework for how to start them without escalating
02
Expectations erode quietly
What's tolerated once becomes the new standard
03
Role boundaries blur
Friction builds when no one knows who owns what
04
The leader absorbs everything
Every operational failure routes back to one person
05
Burnout arrives quietly
The leader who was supporting everyone stops asking for help

After TRIAGE™, you'll be able to:

These are not aspirational outcomes. They're documented capabilities with tools, scripts, and frameworks behind each one.

Resolve conflict with a framework, not instinct
Step into difficult conversations using a repeatable structure, not personal courage every single time.
Make accountability decisions without guilt
Hold standards clearly and consistently, without second-guessing or softening the expectation.
Design systems that reduce your workload
Build operational structures that solve recurring problems once, instead of repeatedly managing the same fires.
Why TRIAGE™

Built from real
veterinary leadership.

Generic leadership courses teach theory. TRIAGE was built inside veterinary hospitals, from actual leadership breakdowns, not adapted business frameworks. Every tool, script, and framework reflects the real environments you're already navigating.

What matters in leadership training Typical courses TRIAGE™
Scenarios from real veterinary floors
Repeatable scripts for difficult conversations
Accountability frameworks (not theory)
Systems-based (not personality-based)
Designed for Specialty, Emergency and GP settings
Self-paced with lifetime access
CE credit (RACE Approved — 15 hrs)

TRIAGE™ was developed from operational leadership challenges inside real veterinary hospitals, not adapted from generic management training.

In Practice

Does the structure actually hold on shift?

I didn’t realize how much of my stress as an ER vet was coming from broken systems instead of difficult cases or difficult people. TRIAGE gave me a structure for accountability and decision-making that holds on shift. My team knows what’s expected. I’m not carrying it all anymore.

The TRIAGE leadership course has been a game changer for me. I’ve done other leadership courses before, but most aren’t based on scenarios and circumstances you find in veterinary medicine. We work in a unique industry with unique leadership concerns. TRIAGE highlights these and has given me real-time micro-scripts I can use on the floor.

New Zealand & Australia

Built across New Zealand and the US, not imported. TRIAGE's frameworks were developed in both New Zealand and US emergency hospitals by Dr. Kaelyn Petras, an active emergency medical director who practices in both systems. RACE-approved CE is recognized in the US and Canada; NZ and AU learners receive the full program and a certificate of completion (check your local board for CPD recognition). Because the US dollar makes this steep locally, NZ and Australian leaders get a regional rate. Email us for your code →

Common Questions

If you're asking, you're in the right place.

What will I actually be able to do differently after TRIAGE™? +

TRIAGE graduates report three consistent shifts: clearer accountability conversations without guilt, faster identification of team dysfunction patterns before they escalate, and less time absorbed by reactive firefighting. You'll have repeatable frameworks , not concepts, for the situations that currently take the most energy.

What is the cost, and how does it compare to doing nothing? +

Individual enrollment: $1,200 USD. Team pricing starts at $900/seat (3–5 seats) and $750/seat (6–15 seats). The cost of a single veterinarian departure is $100,000-$200,000 including recruiting, onboarding, and productivity loss. TRIAGE is priced at less than 4% of that. The math isn't close.

How is this different from leadership books or podcasts? +

Books and podcasts provide concepts. TRIAGE provides tools you can use on your next shift. Every module includes real veterinary scenarios, simulation lab videos, and scripts you can adapt immediately. The goal is not understanding, it's changed behavior.

How long does the program take to complete? +

TRIAGE is self-paced. Most participants move through the six modules sequentially at their own pace in 30–60 minute blocks between shifts. There are no deadlines and no cohort lock-in - you have lifetime access to all modules and updates, including for new hires.

Do I need to be a veterinarian? +

No. TRIAGE is designed for any veterinary professional who influences a team — medical directors, practice managers, lead technicians, and hospital directors. If you're responsible for team performance, the frameworks apply.

Will this work in a GP setting, not just emergency? +

Yes. The leadership patterns TRIAGE addresses — role confusion, accountability gaps, burnout, conflict avoidance — are consistent across emergency, specialty, and general practice environments. The scenarios draw from both.

Is continuing education credit available? +

"Yes. TRIAGE™ is RACE-approved (Program #20-1366025) for 15 hours of non-medical continuing education (CE) credit, for both veterinarians and veterinary nurses/technicians. CE certificates are issued through the LearnWorlds platform upon course completion."

What if I'm new to leadership? +

TRIAGE was designed specifically for clinicians entering or recently promoted to leadership roles. If you're building systems from scratch, Module 1 (free) is the right starting point — it addresses the most immediate, visible team challenges first.
